ACS:
Looking Back & Pushing Ahead
Contributed By:  Paulette Kaelin
We were sitting in the restaurant of the Embassy
Suites.  Dr. George Perkins said to me, "If I'm not
around when ACS celebrates its tenth anniversary,
write something uplifting to remember me."  I knew
George for over twenty years and worked with him both
with the Society and on the Arkansas State Board of
Chiropractic Examiners, when I did all the secretarial
work in the days before they had Ann Gates (Stone).  He
was ethical, fair-minded and as dedicated to the
chiropractic profession as anyone I have ever known.
When he had the idea to start the Society, he knew it
would be controversial to some, but still he felt in his
heart that it was the right thing to do.

The two party system of government that we have
works, even though we all experience frustration and
disagreement with it from time to time.  An exchange of
ideas and viewpoints is a good thing and can be very
productive.  It is also true that healthy competition leads
to improvements, needed changes, and more choices.
But never fear; when our country is threatened, we are
all Americans and can set aside our differences.  When
the chiropractic profession is assailed by outside
interests, we can, we will, and we must fight for the
good of chiropractic.

I welcome all of you who would like to come to ACS
seminars, be a member or participate in any way.  I
pledge to do my very best to make you fell comfortable
and serve your needs to the best of my ability.  Please
participate with your donations, ideas, and your talents
for the sake of the chiropractic profession in Arkansas.
If we all are working for the good of chiropractic, we
cannot help but be successful.

ACS Celebrates Its 10th
Anniversary (1994- 2004)
Every election year, we are
bombarded with different ideas; the
Republican way versus the Democrat
way.  In the chiropractic profession,
we have the ICA and the ACA and in
Arkansas, the Association and the
Society.  The Democrats and the Republicans have the
interest of our county at heart.  They just have different
ideas about which direction the country should go.  The
same is true with how the ICA, the ACA, the Association
and the Society view the chiropractic profession.  All
have some good ideas to contribute.  None have all the
answers.
